    Dr. Danyal H. Nawabi is an Orthopedic Surgeon on both the Sports Medicine and Hip Preservation Services at Hospital for Special Surgery. He is a specialist in the fields of knee, hip, and shoulder surgery.

    Dr. Nawabi attended college at Cambridge University and completed his medical training at Oxford University. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery on the prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation in London, where he was awarded the Sir Walter Mercer Gold Medal as the top graduating resident in the UK. Following residency, he completed advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Hip Preservation at Hospital for Special Surgery, where he was a double recipient of the Philip D. Wilson Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery.

    His expertise in knee surgery was developed in London after completing a dedicated one year fellowship under the supervision of the internationally renowned ACL surgeon, Dr. Andy Williams. During this year, Dr. Nawabi gained experience treating elite athletes from Chelsea Football Club in London and other English Premier League soccer clubs. He has also served as an assistant team physician to the New York Red Bulls MLS franchise. Dr. Nawabi has a strong research background in knee, hip and shoulder surgery. He has authored over forty peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and delivered over 100 presentations at national and international conferences, on arthroplasty and sports-related topics. His current research focus is the ACL and sports hip injuries.
