While clinicians are very interested in the concept of injury prevention, it is not always a priority for individual players and coaches. As you will see, getting coaches to buy in is critical for the successful implementation of injury-prevention practices. Compliance is also a critical factor. Put simply, if players do not follow the injury-prevention programmes, they will not be effective.
The concept of performance enhancement is much easier to sell to players and coaches. Performing the FIFA 11+ regularly has been shown to make individual players better athletes (as judged by measures of strength, balance and coordination). Studies from the UEFA Champions League have also clearly demonstrated that teams that have fewer injuries perform better in both their domestic leagues and in the Champions League.
