Tendon disorders are a difficult group of conditions to manage. In football, most of these conditions are caused by overload and overuse. While it is not scientifically validated, we find the continuum model useful. It allows us to tailor our treatment of athletes with tendinopathy.
The successful treatment of an athlete with tendinopathy requires careful management of their playing loads and a progressive strengthening programme. There is also a wide range of medical and surgical techniques which can be helpful in some situations.
